
Beechwood is the most widespread hardwood species Western and central Europe. Beech trees can grow to 300 years or more and they can reach a height of 30 to 35 meters. Sap and heartwood have an even pale yellow to white – reddish colouring. The species has very good strength properties and high abrasion resistance. Despite its hardness it can be cut, milled, drilled and planned. Its main uses is furniture (tables and chairs), parquet floors, household equipment, model building, toys and pianos. Unsteamed/Lightly Steamed Beechwood is usually paler than the pinkish color ‘fully steamed’ Beech wood.
